4 weeks pregnant

Congratulations, you’re now on your first month of pregnancy! Since you will only learn about your pregnancy during this week, this will be the beginning of a new period of your life. Eight months from now, you’ll be holding your baby in your arms.

What’s Going on with the Baby

Blastocyst is in your uterus

Once the blastocyst is in your uterus, it finds a specific spot to settle down. This process of burrowing is called implantation. Once implanted in the uterus, the cells of the blastocyst divide into two groups – the group that forms the baby and the group that forms the placenta.

What’s Going on with Mommy

Pre-menstrual symptoms

Right now, you’re probably feeling the usual pre-menstrual symptoms such as mood swings, fatigue and breast soreness. You think it’s because you’re about to start your next period, but you’re in for a surprise, since your baby is starting to develop.

Take a urine pregnancy test

The best way to make sure is to take a urine pregnancy test. These can be bought over the counter in most pharmacies and drug stores, and are fairly easy to use and understand.

Hcg levels at 4 weeks pregnant

The test will measure the amount of the “pregnancy hormone,” human chorionic gonadtropin or hCG, present in your urine. Remember though that the test is not 100% accurate.

Keep your self healthy

Keep yourself well rested during this period. Keep eating healthy and doing mild exercises. The first trimester is the most critical in your child’s development.

Now for Daddy

You have a big responsibility right now – to support mom during this stressful, emotional moment of her life when she does not know for certain yet, whether she is pregnant or not. The suspense may be killing you as well, but keep your cool and let your woman have her way for the meantime. She needs a lot of understanding at this time.
