22 weeks pregnant

Since you are still smack in the middle of the second trimester, you’re still feeling pretty comfortable on the whole about your pregnancy. Make this weeks count by doing something you weren’t able to do before.

What’s Going on with the Baby

Baby kicks and nudges.

This week, it looks as if you have a huge human raisin in your womb, which weighs 425 grams and is 28 centimeters long. The baby is increasingly wrinkly during this week and actually looks quite shriveled up. Don’t worry – this is only in preparation for the day he or she packs in the adorable baby fat. Your baby’s inner ear is now so well developed that he or she now has a sense of balance, which will further urge them to explore their surroundings – meaning the umbilical cord, and the walls of your uterus. The baby is increasingly active, and has a sleeping cycle already. You’ll be sure to feel that the baby is awake once you feel the baby kicks and nudges.

What’s Going on with Mommy

Sufffering from back-ache?

Your uterus is now about an inch above your navel. You may begin to suffer from back-ache due to the weight you’re gaining steadily. Avoid wearing high heeled shoes and flat shoes, as both can strain your back. Opt for comfortable, low heeled shoes instead. Avoid sitting or standing for extended periods of time as this can cause cramps. Whenever you sit, have a footstool ready so that you can raise your knees a bit higher than your hips. You may start noticing the stretch marks, which could itch very uncomfortably. Do not buy expensive creams that promise to magically erase the stretch marks, as they usually aren’t effective and are just a waste of money.

Now for Daddy

Did you know that your partner may be experiencing increased libido during this time of her pregnancy? Sex shouldn’t stop just because she’s pregnant.
