Reflux (Gastroesophageal reflux)
This is where the child will regurgitate a small amount of food back or milk. Some babies with this condition can suffer from repeated vomiting.
What are the symptoms of reflux?
- Baby arching their back
- Pain when feeding.
- Difficulty in sleeping.
- Crying after feeding.
What can you do to help relieve Reflux?
Keep your baby in an upright position for around 30 mins after feeding.
Don’t feed your baby too fast – take your time. There are special teats and bottles available who state they assist reflux. How successful these are is unknown but is always worth trying.
Change your formula feed to a thickened formula or one of the specialist formulas available. Consult with your mid wife or health care professional prior to doing this and always ask their expert advice.
