Treatment for Measles

Reduce your child’s fever by giving them paracetemol based child’s medicine. Keep a cold flannel placed on their heads at all times. If the eyes become infected then wipe them with sterile cotton wool which has been cooled in previously boiled water.

Consult your doctor if your child is still no better three days after the rash has appeared or if you child develops earache or breathing difficulties.

Incubation Period

Seven to twelve days.

Infectious Period

Child becomes infectious about six days before the rash appears and for five days afterwards.
